Fukuyama-jo Castle is one of the finest castles in Hiroshima prefecture. It was built by Mizuno Katsunari after he became the lord of the Bingo Province, which was worth 100,000 goku. Since then, this splendid mansion has been watching over the city of Fukuyama. Must-see sights of the castle are Fushimi Yagura (watchtower) and Sujigane Gomon Gate, known for being reconstructed from Fushimi-jo Castle in Kyoto. They are designated as National Important Cultural Properties. Tenshukaku (donjon) is now open to the public as a museum, displaying materials related to the successive federal lords as well as other archeological and historical artifacts.

Myououin Temple

This historic temple, Myououin, is said to be founded by Kobo Daishi in 807. The main hall was constructed in a distinctive style, using Wa-yo (Japanese style) for the broader areas and Kara-yo (Chinese style) for the details. The hall is believed to be the oldest surviving example of a building using this style. The five-story pagoda in the temple is regarded as the fifth-oldest tower in Japan. Both the hall and the pagoda are designated as National Treasures. These stately buildings, surrounded by scenic greens, are breathtakingly beautiful.
Kusado Inari-jinja Shrine

Kusado Inari-jinja Shrine is one of the most famous shrines in Fukuyama city. Crossing a red-lacquered arch bridge with a unique shape, you will see magnificent shrine buildings with a solemn atmosphere. The bright red buildings and green mountains are beautifully harmonized. This shrine is included in the five major Inari in Japan affiliated with Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine in Kyoto and also a very popular hatsumode (New Year's visit) spot, attracting around half a million worshippers. There are some Oinari-sama (the god Inari) enshrined in the precinct and each god is said to offer different blessings you can receive.

This museum mainly displays nostalgic classic cars, gaining great popularity with automobile lovers. This museum of art is situated in Fukuyama-jo Park. It mainly exhibits artworks of artists from local cities and who are associated with Setouchi region as well as other modern and contemporary Japanese art collections.
